ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Second year women's lacrosse head coach Christy Malone announced on Thursday that Katelyn Penrose will join the program an assistant coach this season.

A recent graduate of Cabrini College, Penrose was a four-year letterwinner on the lacrosse team and served as team captain during her final two seasons.

"I'm really happy to have Katelyn on board for what promises to be an exciting season. Her enthusiasm, leadership and teaching ability make her a great fit for our program," said Malone. "\Katelyn was a talented offensive played and has a great sense of the game. I know she will bring that vision into coach and I expect her to have an immediate impact with our attackers. We are really excited to have her on board with us this year."

Penrose was a three-time All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) selection on attack for the Cavaliers, highlighted by a pair of first team appearances in 2006 and 2007. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Penrose accumulated 195 points on 157 goals and 38 assists over her final three seasons as an All-Conference choice. Penrose also excelled in the classroom evident by her selection to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team and All-PAC Academic team.

Penrose worked various camps in the summer time, serving as a counselor and coach at the Cavalier Lacrosse Camp and South Jersey Lacrosse Camp.

St. Bonaventure signed 10 new student-athletes to National Letters of Intent in Malone's initial recruiting class this past spring. The Bonnies will also welcome back five starters from last year's club.
