Stony Brook, N.Y. - Courtney Bertolone, Abigail Ford and Jackie Gentile have signed National Letters of Intent to play lacrosse at Stony Brook, head coach Allison Comito has announced. They join Jillian Weinstein and Jackie Hughes, who signed in the fall, as Stony Brook's incoming players.

Bertolone is a transfer from Robert Morris University where she was a two-sport athlete, competing in field hockey and lacrosse. Bertolone led the Colonials' field hockey team with four assists and had five goals, 11 ground balls and 11 draw controls for the lacrosse team. A standout three-sport athlete at Sachem East High School in nearby Farmingville, N.Y., she earned All-County, All-Long Island and All-State honors in field hockey and All-County and All-America in lacrosse, amassing 162 goals and 137 assists. "We're really excited about Courtney. She's a quick attacker with good field sense that should be fighting for a spot right away. Her familiarity with some of our players will make her transition to Stony Brook a smooth one," Comito said.

Ford comes to Stony Brook from Baltimore, Md., where she was part of a strong Notre Dame Prep team that went 13-7 and had a #6 ranking in Baltimore County. "Abby is a good attacker that we're hoping can be a feeder like Carlee Buck," Comito said.

Gentile starred at Plainview-JFK High School in nearby Plainview, N.Y where she earned all-conference honors. "Jackie's biggest asset is her speed. We will use this fall to see where she will be most useful on the field," Comito said.
