SUNG TO COACH IN WORLD CUP 2009
Aug. 20, 2008
ADRIAN, Mich. - Head Women's Lacrosse Coach John Sung guided the Adrian College Bulldogs through their first season of intercollegiate play in 2008 and will take his coaching skills internationally in 2009 as head coach of Team Haudenosaunee in the Women's Lacrosse World Cup. The event will take place June 18-27, 2009 in Prague, Czech Republic and Sung will be the lone Division III head coach to guide a team. Team Haudenosaunee is one of 16 teams participating in the Women's Lacrosse World Cup along with such nations as the United States of America, Canada, England, Australia and several others. Team Haudenosaunee is comprised of the Iroquois Confederacy which is a group of Native Americans that originally consisted of five nations: the Mohawk, the Oneida, the Onondaga, the Cayuga and the Seneca. Although frequently referred to as the Iroquois, the Nations refer to themselves collectively as Haudenosaunee. "I'm very honored and humbled to represent Team Haudenosaunee as their head coach this upcoming summer," said Sung. "I have always dreamed of coaching on an international stage and this is truly remarkable. This is great exposure on a personal level but also a great thing for Adrian College."
